Horological Meandering

Hello Thomas! You make a good point here. I own several watches and I like complications but truth is that I only use my watches daily just to read the time and all the complications are there...

... only because I love to view them.

My favorite complication is the chronograph, but I confess I only use them to time 3,5 minutes boiled eggs. But sometimes I like to view them working just for a whim. I also find rattrapante chronos fascinating.

Moon phases is a very romantic complication I feel and I got a few with it. I don`t care to set the correct phase I confess. But I love the looks.

World Timers. Another complication I love, I find them magical and inviting to daydream with exotic places. I own a few from Omega, JLC, and GP but my favorite is my Patek 5110. I feel Patek makes the Kings of World Timers though other brands make some beautiful models of course.

GMT are useful for travels, perhaps more useful for me than a World Timer. My favorites are those made by Rolex.

Then I own other complications like Annual calender which are nice to have too just for the pleasure of owning them. I never owned a Perpetual because I feel I should have it always functioning and don`t want to complicate with that.

I find alarm watches lovely. It reminds me of past times when they were really useful.

My dream complication which I hope I will own someday is a sonnerie/repeater. That is romantic and sweet.

As you may know I love diving watches and own a collection of them both vintage and modern. During several decades before collecting  I used a diving watch as my only watch and daily beater: a Submariner.
I also used to sport Scuba diving during my vacations.

To sumarize: I guess we need only one... or may be two or three watches.

More than this quantity  ... the reason to own more than three is collecting and I find it fascinating to have watches with complications though I recognize that hours and minutes and sometimes seconds is all I need.

Best cordial regards, Abel
