Horological Meandering

Hi PinkPanther

I'm not shure I understand the problem of open date. As long as the papers have the stamp of an authorized dealer, I suppose you can fill in the date, should you need the warranty. I bought a watch in the US while I was on holidays, at one of the major retailers. (official) They gave me the wrong box, so I had to spend some time going back to them get the right one. They then provided me with a extra warranty card( I assumed as a friendly gesture) with open date and official stamp.
Just curious.
