Mostel,
With even more years of collecting experience, I have never (ever) used your criterion of "resale price" when collecting a watch.
That is because that level of loss affects ALL watch brands and not just the young ones. It applied to Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, A. Lange & Soehne, Girard-Perregaux,, Moser, Ulysse Nardin, etc; my list goes on....
For the last three brands named, forget "2nd hand depreciation"; one could get 40% discount as the new first buyer!
I have many watches from the list above that I have not worn for years NOR can I ever recoup my "depreciation costs" during my lifetime. That did not stop me collecting them; if anything, their current monetary value forces me to be a "collector" to keep them
You are essentially saying "Don't buy new watches".
This topic and discussion is for another thread and another day, as it is not SPECIFIC to Armin Strom brand nor this new model.
Regards,
MTF
