I agree, I've got two G-Shocks that I keep for that very reason:
No maintenance, no worry, can be taken really anywhere. And they have functions like alarms, chronograph, countdown, multi timezones, etc. that make a phone redundant.
Yours have been tempting me for a while, but I never pulled the trigger. GMT function is quite useful, I like the pilot style and the fancy wheel (although I am not sure I will use ever use it).

I'll admit I think it's been at least 3 years since I've worn this.. Grabbed it as I was headed out the door, figured since it cost less than a service on other watches it's about as carefree a watch as I could bring along. It's great to reconnect with it...
