Horological Meandering

I can’t help but agree with this.

And in a way, it’s dismaying that it’s the same everywhere I’ve been to as well. In Manila, Singapore, and even Japan I’ve walked into Rolex and Patek ADs with literally no stock of anything in steel...

Yet somehow all the grey dealers in the same area have them available for insane prices.

And these are essentially non limited regular collection watches. Which I find hard to understand.

In a way, I’m thankful that perhaps I’m lucky that I belong to the minority that don’t find 5711s and the other nautiluses attractive on my wrist, (but it’s still a great watch) and I’ve probably resigned myself from the fact that I won’t be buying any sports Rolex anytime soon.

However, the bright side to all this is really, if you look at the other side of things, since people are all chasing the same thing; the things that are NOT Rolex / Patek tend to be more accessible whether thru ADs or the grey dealers. Now is the perfect time to chase that complicated jlc, or Lange, or limited edition ______, while others aren’t looking. smile

Because sometimes going off the normal path leads to a more interesting journey. smile
