In Christian tradition it is often done....
that family puts a rosary in deceased hands before burial out of respect for the faith.
My quess is that a family member put the watch on the hand because it was simply an object the person had wore most of the time.
It does not necessarily mean he will be buried with it. But I think the wishes should be respected!
