Horological Meandering

It is too huge when...

the watch on your wrist looks ridiculously out of proportion to your body built as a whole, not just your wrist. Shaq looks great with his own signature Offshore, so does Arnold. But when wearers of such watch are of significantly smaller built, it does look ridiculously absurd (although many refused to acknowledge it).

Lately, there has been a trend of producing watches that go 44mm and beyond (Tag heur's recent releases looked really out of place imo, almost trying too hard to jump in the bandwagon, the Mont Blanc with its Villeret series of 47mm diameter for crying out loud, not forgetting the recent AP jules audemars AP chrono). I seriously hope this trend do taper down as it is reaching to a point where the line that divides wristwatch and wristclocks seemed to be running thin. Sport or military watches can be excused but large dress watches does seem wayyyy over the top. Where's the challenge of building exquisite wristwatches in a more confined space?

The Piaget Emperador Coussin Perpetual Calender is an brilliant piece when I first laid my eyes on it on MTF's post. But I found out it came in 46.5mm, I was disappointed.
