Horological Meandering

Not sure I can manage just one

but here's a few I picked up along the way. These mostly relate to vintage watches.

Better to have the part and search for the watch, than have the watch and search for the part.

If the mark on the dial bothers you when you buy it, in a year from now you won't have gotten used to it.

A cheap chrongraph costs as much to service as an expensive chronograph.

Beware the scariest phrase to a vintage collector - 'It's a prototype"

Build a library, not paying several hundred pounds for a book is a false economy.

and one more that's not mine.

The time to buy something rare is when you see it.

Great thread pplater.
