Horological Meandering

Phillips Auction - What I looked at during the preview

The headline was F.P.Journe and FFC, and there were some other fantastic lots from Journe on sale too.  As per other posts on this, the results were phenomenal for the Journe lots.

But there was also 100+ other watches to see and bid on.  From modern indies (DeBethune, Kari, Krayon, MB&F) to the old stalwarts (Rolex, PP).

I typically go to previews if I’m interested in bidding on something (obviously) or to see something in the metal that is not otherwise easy to see.  This time it was a bit of both.

The lots I looked at are below.

A fantastic vintage IWC with a cloisonné dial, which if it had been on a Patek (and the same dial could have been as they all came from the same place I believe) would have been far more popular.  It sold for $39k.

A stunning vintage Omega in platinum with a platinum bracelet.  This thing was the bomb !

And two Rolex Submariners 1680 in gold, super well preserved. They sold for $85k and $95k or so.

And finally a one of one AP cased in a pink gold asymmetrical case.  Produced in 2000 for AP’s 125th anniversary.  This one sold for $140k or so.

Last one, one of those watches I wanted to see in the metal.  The Berneron Mirage 38. Yeah, it was good in the metal.  And now that I’ve seen it on my wrist I would be much more comfortable in saying it is a watch for me.  This one fetched $190k!

Sorry for the poor pictures, but the lighting wasn’t conducive to taking photos.

These are two different 1680s. But both in great shape.
