A good friend of mine has asked for advice on watches they should consider for 2 sons who will be graduating from college this year. Both of these sons are large young men so they it will take, I think, something in the range of 42-45 mm to be comfortable...
Always glad to see you here! And because I am tolerant but NEVER impartial - my suggestion would be a Sarpaneva S.U.F "Myrski" or "Flying Finn" - well, something in that range, direction - and somewhere beyond, but nothing from a Brand. Presenting an inno...
at 21, it was all about trying to impress the ladies :-) The usual brands which get recognition Panerai Rolex Breitling Omega of course I'm biased but MB dual carbon sport can probably handle most abuse as well. Give them a few years to develop your taste...
If a Rolex, I would opt for a model that is not faked too much: an Explorer is a nice watch and high quality, without shouting "Rolex!" too loudly, the Milgauss would fall into the same category. Otherwise, something really cool would be a rubberized dive...
Tell him to recommend a Cartier Santos... I asked why and Amy responded: "this way after he buys the two watches, he can pick something up for his wife. She probably worked harder to get the kids through college than the kids worked in college!" Hmmm Why ...
I'd suggest a Rolex Submariner/GMT, since they're pretty sturdy, reliable, and relatively timeless. Or a Panerai, but sizing is quite difficult to get exact and might not be for every one. Maybe even an IWC chronograph pilot (Ref 3777). Stick to classics....
The most obvious answer is... Rolex. Don't nother about the diameter. They will work with. Any of the Professional model will work. An exotic choice would be a JLC, such as a Navy SEALs Alarm, if they really care about big size. Panerai, and the 372 would...
This will apparently be the graduate's "one" watch, perhaps for the moment and perhaps indefinitely. That calls for Rolex for reasons of physical and fashion durability. I agree with the advice not to get one that is too "blatant."
... I am pleased with my Rolex Submariner 114060. Absolutely a pleasure to wear. It is versatile, sturdy, well made and it fits your bill perfectly! Another alternative is the Omega Speedmaster. You can never go wrong with these two. All the best for your...
Now here is a watch that some might find corny, but it is highly appropriate. The Zenith El Primero Espada Graduation. Stainless Steel, 40mm, Water Resistent to 100m, Self winding mechanical, power reserve 50hrs, 36,000, and should be within the price. Or...
I wanted .... oh we are talking watches :) So in that time of age I wanted Omega few years later Panerai moving on to Rolex an I craved for UN Trilogy set in mean time I obviously discovered PPro :) There are sure shots Rolex..Panerai...Omega there are d...
The Speedmaster is a great choice, but don't think that at 21, you will be winding watches. In all honesty the best pic at 7k is the Explorer II, is a 42mm case. But if you want a pay a little less, an Omega Seamaster could be a winner as well.
