Horological Meandering

Tissot has been looking to its past recently (a bit like Longines) for an inspiration for new models - the Heritage Navigator 160th anniversary being a good example. The Heritage 1936 may not be such a close tribute but does resemble watches from the era ...

The case size is good for such a watch. Navigators from Longines / Wittnauer were even bigger ( 47 / 48 mm ). The hunter case back is top. I love the possibility to see the movement, or not. The big ETA movement is a very much my taste, too. I guess that ... 

The Nicolas special Thanks for your view - the historical size comparison puts it into perspective somewhat. And the hunter is a real plus at this price point.

and as Nicolas mentioned, these navigators should be large at 45-47mm. On the top of that the ETA 6497 is a large movement so the case should be large enough to house it. As for the watch being too large, gotta say something according to my experience wit...

except for the size. The Hunter Case is a nice touch and the finishing, at least in your picture, looks to be very fine. But it is way to big for me, no matter how true to its historical roots.

Size is the only thing I am unsure about myself. But as Alejandro pointed out below, there is a 36mm version, too (picture included in a later response).

If only I find the time to present it with details... It doesn't look too large on the wrist. Fx ...

From the pictures, wearability due to size appears to be ok, but I´ll have to wait and see. There is also a 36mm version with an automatic movement instead which I´m sure could be a great alternative as well. All in all a great piece by Tissot in my opini...

In case the 45mm is too large after all

based on the elements mentioned...and yes! no date. I like the size and at least Tissot fits a movement sufficiently big to fill the case. The wire lugs, breguet hands, numerals are nice touches. Overall it succeeds in bringing back a vintage look.

In my eyes it is a success, too. And a date would simply look wrong on a tribute to the 1930s piece.

No date! (Spot on, amanico!) Even the large case doesn\'t bother me. Definitely thinking about this Watch for a fun piece to wear.

Many, many watch companies have built models around this bulletproof movement. If Stowa can do it, why shouldn't Tissot make its own version with the lid which adds a bit of mystery and mechanics to the composition? Notice the different angle on the Genev...

No... no, no, no, no no. Tissot was a brand that mattered 100 years ago... ( I exaggerate) but for the last 30-40 years has been meaningless except for generic mechanical watches and some very cool quartz models. While this watch may be 'cool,' there's so... 

That both Longines and Tissot have suffered in the Swatch era. Still, even if the brands\' best is in the past, there is a chance for redemption, even if slight. Not saying this particular watch is it but the LLD (no date) has become quite a desirable ite... 

....tried both at the AD today. The 45mm wears surprisingly well despite my small wrist and does not look awkward due to the nature of its lugs. For once,the smaller 36m looks diminished although it sits well on my wrist. Fairly tempted by the bigger size...

Like others have said the case could be a bit smaller in diameter.

And the difference between the 45mm handwound one and the 36mm automatic is quite large. Thanbks for your input!
