Vintage Breitling dilemma
Do you have a favorite between these two pilot chronographs?
- 1963 Breitling Co-Pilot AVI MK2.1 ref. 765 - 41 mm diameter - Caliber Venus 178
- 1962 Breitling Navitimer MK2.2 ref. 809 with AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association) dial - 40 mm diameter - Caliber Venus 178
I'm not very familiar with Breitling, and I've always found the Navitimer's dial, with its slide rule, too busy.
But the beaded bezel is fantastic, and because of it, I prefer the Navitimer.
I also prefer the distribution of black and white on its dial to the reverse panda dial of the Co-Pilot.
What about you?

They have released very similar re-editions in recent years
I've looked at the Navitimer several times, still a couple out there if you want the vintage look but new moving parts
I find these watches interesting and appealing
but not to the point of wanting one for myself. The pilot’s watch theme isn’t one I really relate to. Best, Emmanuel
I love them both, but opted
for the modern versions of them 😂. I do prefer the Navitimer of the modern versions and wish they would have added “Geneva” under “Breitling” on the dials of the 2 AVI’s. It just seems like it needs another line in my opinion. To me the Navitimer is as pe...
