Watchmakers
Hi Nico,
Thanks for your comments and kind words. I am pleased to hear you think we are on the right track.
Several Purists have mentioned discussion of watch mechanics, and it is definitely something I plan: an 'under the bonnet' series. However, short of going to night school to learn watchmaking, I am going to need assistance! If any of you have particular knowledge or interest in aspects of watch mechanics and design feel free to contribute!
And in the meantime there are the archives here. I will be organizing and cataloguing past posts as time goes on, and will be bringing some of these discussions together in the one place.

I strongly agree with Nicolas's suggestion to have content that explains how a watch works. Starting with the most basic, then building up complication by complication. This would be an excellent series of articles that would serve a large portion of your...

with the idea of more technical/educational posts. For those of us not in the industry, or new to the interest/obsession, this is a great place to learn from a large number of knowledgeable people. I would also like to see more general questions about any...

Hi All, Thanks for your comments; participation is what makes this a great forum. Several of you have a desire for more technical articles, particularly starting with the basics of watchmaking. I have said before that one of the early strengths of ThePuri...
As a lurker

Andrew, how long did you lurk before registering to the forum and that making first post? I met Dr. No socially and was alerted to this site. Looked like a place to explore, so easy to register and get my feet wet. I posted immediately.

Hi Kurt, I probably lurked for 8 or 12 months before I finally made my first post. I touched on that in my recent Fifth Anniversary thread . I remember thinking what an amazingly knowledgeable bunch with collections that I could only dream of having. Why ...
