You may be right …
Pocket watch users may be even more gentle souls than mechanical wristwatch wearers. Mine certainly transport me back to more quiet and gentle times.
Actually I left the pocket chronograph pictured above on the dressing table last night and my wife complained about the ticking when we were trying to get to sleep. Personally I find the sound rather soothing, much like raindrops on the roof, but not everyone shares that view!
