I guess it's thick for a reason
It definitely looks like a beautiful watch in my opinion. The thickness and the size is not really a major issue because there are much larger watches out there such as the U-boat Flightdeck 55 mm that still looks fine on the wrist. It all depends on who's wearing it, taste and size of wrist. In my opinion the size of the watch is never a problem as long as it looks good and in this case the Hublot Oceanographic 4000 does look beautiful. It is a divers watch so it is expected to have its tough and rugged structure for it to withstand such depth and I'm sure some people might still be able to pull it off as an occasional watch.
Thanks for the little educational info on diving and how gas enters the tissue, even though it made be slightly paranoid because I plan to go diving soon lol.
ooohhhh!

awesome post! will have to re-read this. Have to say that Hublot is really making leaps and bounds with their recent pieces. Ask me a year ago if I would consider Hublot and I would have said no--but now..... As always, thanks for your observations Jason

If you really want to get a dive watch that goes deep... buy a Pita Oceana that goes as deep as 5,000 meters. But for normal wearing I still find this watch ridiculously thick. I think Hublot makes better watches, that do look good on the wrist.
Okay, clarification...

Hi Joel, Actually, all carbon (regardless of pattern) by definition is forged. The difference is Hublot forges layers of woven carbon fibers together, while AP for example use random, loose fibers and compress them ALL together. Hope this clears it up! Be...
Not forged.

I think I've pressed this point in the past on the AP forum. No matter the composition of the carbon fibres, the process is just a moulding, not a forging. Forging is a very specific process aimed at aligning the grains in metal to the general shape of th...
Have fun!

If you don't plan on diving too deep, don't worry about it Besides, you should have license or dive with instructors, right? Have fun out there! It must be so nice to bring in the camera in the waterproof case and take things in the sea....... Ken
Agreed!

It is good to have choices, definitely! No one is required to love everything we discuss here. And I encourage and appreciate different opinions. It is good to be able to say what we want to say (note: there are some rules here, too, though...) Ken
