An interesting thing about the plates....
What appear to be separate cocks and bridges are really two solid sheets of metal that have been cut to give the appearance of separate parts. While separate bridges and cocks look great, Laurent wanted the solidity of using just two bigger plates. This photo by Alex Ghotbi couldn't be clearer:
That click spring is gorgeous. Winding the watch is a pleasure both to the touch and to the ear. Too bad one would only need to do it every third day as the watch has an 80 hour power reserve! Bill

I've seen a bunch of early 20th C pocket watches with what appeared to be separate fingers for each wheel but were in fact a single bridge cut down A

Is it a Swiss tradition or something you've seen in American pocket watches? Bill
I know the American ones better...
So the only examples I can think of offhand are American (I'll try to track down some pictures), but I'd be surprised if it wasn't common in Swiss pieces as well. A

Laurent Ferrier has confirmed that the onyx dial is stone...
and that it is mounted on a brass plate. They chose the onyx both for the deep rich black that it provides as well as for the fact that black grande feu enamel dials are too difficult to manufacture with the quallity that they need. Bill This message has ...
