Caliber FBN 229.01

I like manual-winding movements more than self-winding ones because I love the daily winding ritual.

However, the Caliber FBN 229.01, designed in collaboration with Enrico Barbasini and Michel Navas (“FBN” stands for Ferrier, Barbasini & Navas) is one of the most beautiful I know.

The qualities of the micro rotor construction (with its ratchets and jeweled staff) and of the natural escapement with double direct-impulse are often emphasized.

But one detail that matters a lot to me is the apparent manual winding train which can clearly be seen next to the crown.

When manually winding the watch, you can clearly see the crown wheel, the transmission wheel and the click spring in action. And I love it.

And the way the bridge is cut all around with several very sharp outward angles is splendid.

In this position, I couldn't get a better photo of the slate dial...

Thanks for looking.

Best, Emmanuel
