showing the world that Swiss Watchmaking doesn't need to be backward-looking, entrenched in heritage and ages-old craftmanship. They remind us that watchmaking used to be all about innovating, for hundreds of years (except roughly the past 50 or so). And they do it brilliantly.
I do not own an Urwerk, although the 105 and 210 are constant temptations. I mostly go for classic design, in my watch collection and in other areas as well. But I think that Swiss Watchmaking NEEDS Urwerk, in the same way that the car industry needs Tesla. Of course Urwerk will never revolutionize the watch industry by itself, but they do more to push others out of their comfort zone than anyone else.
Thank you, Jay, for starting this discussion!
