I concur, the 5226G and the Laurent Ferrier are not comparable.

Your last sentence says "I also don't love PM watches" and I don't know what you mean by "PM watches" could you clarify?
I also concur, the Laurent Ferrier pieces do have a beautiful and handsome look. One that is both casual and elegant. While most people take it as a dressier watch - both models can look very casual too and goes well with both a suit and with a tennis outfit at the club.
You mentioned you appreciated Moser but seems that the colors are not appealing. Which I consider to have a more Germanic and teutonic look. Perhaps a second consideration for a Lange? Langes can be extremely likable. And Langes have a more restrained color palette. I would say that Langes are more reliable (although some may disagree). Being more Germanic and teutonic in design, it's not quite as casual - but with a strap change, the formality of the Lange, can be subdued. Imagine a Lange with a suede strap.
Reliability opinions are always hard to say. Many of us have multiple watches so it's really hard to say if any of my watches are reliable - since I hardly use any of them consistently.
