I might add to this idea
of an almost insanely accurate internal reference provided by an oscillator-calculator is that, if the dream is ever to come true, the watch would still have to be set to a satellite standard or what we prefer to call "atomic" time - by hand - because there is no automatic connection or updates to satellites. Other watches, thinking of Seiko, can do that - with their hi-tech electronics.
The idea of self-regulating a watch, not only by position but through adjusting the +/- function from outside the movement by whatever means has always appealed to me. Reaching for a screw driver to do that obviously less so!
As for the voltage supply and decrease upon checking the stored energy you are absolutely correct, my friend.
Battery testers can drain batteries of their voltage and so decrease their lifetime.
