I would recommend looking at pocketwatches by Breguet, Daniels and Pratt to get a sense of the classic patterns, then google image search Kari's watches and see a few other ideas.
I've also looked at various geometric patterns, there are even books of them for the slightly obsessed (yes, I bought one). However, keep in mind that some patterns would require careful hand engraving rather than a combination of rose and straight-line engines. The classics are classic because they work, so consider them first. Beware of wishing for something unique only to find that it doesn't really work for you. Selling this piece will not be so easy, so know yourself well and you'll be sure to choose something you will love.

Anyone would argue that the complexity of the finishing on a Gronefeld surpasses that of Kudoke.

This will influence dial colour too. I think a subtle colour would look good on the Watch overall, but you also need to consider how the colour will present the guilloche pattern you choose. There is some work to do there as I think the same patterns can ...
