After much deliberation, I’m very seriously considering committing to a Kudoke 2 as my first foray into the world of independent watches. I love the design. I missed the boat on the Gronefeld remontoire, and even though there may be some for sale at ADs, ... 

Its something very personal. Best way to see as many guilloche options and colors as possible before you decide what to order . Looking forward to see your choice

I do think a light blue dial could work well for this watch. Will need to play with photoshop.

and finish of Kudoke movments compare to Gronefeld?

Anyone would argue that the complexity of the finishing on a Gronefeld surpasses that of Kudoke.

Kudoke is great but you can’t compare a watch that is 8X it’s price

I just wondered how there could be a choice between Gronefeld and Kudoke. Two different watches from a finish and tech aspect.

Watches that I’m interested in. I’m not making a comparison between them at all.

I've also looked at various geometric patterns, there are even books of them for the slightly obsessed (yes, I bought one). However, keep in mind that some patterns would require careful hand engraving rather than a combination of rose and straight-line e... 

I’ve been looking at Kari and Breguet. And you’re right, I will definitely choose something classic.

This will influence dial colour too. I think a subtle colour would look good on the Watch overall, but you also need to consider how the colour will present the guilloche pattern you choose. There is some work to do there as I think the same patterns can ... 

And I agree. The color will be very subtle. I’m going to start playing with it today. And might ask the opinion of a couple of artists in the family

That the white dial is effective for this watch, stark, it makes the hands pop and puts the day/night indicator on full display. To that end, I think a simple barleycorn guilloche that is radially arrayed from the day/night indicator would be very dramati...

It is a very classic look, but as you say it will let the day/night shine and the hands too. If that’s the look you are going for then perfect. But if you want something more contemporary I think you need something other than white. Have you seen the new ...
