sorry for the late reply, I didn't see this until today
I totally agree that Journe is a top shelf company with respectable people to assist customers. The watch brands mentioned are simply used as an example. In the case I made, if I wanted to interact directly with the designers or Mr. Lang himself at L&H, I believe could do so and give/receive feedback. FP Journe is now at a point (I believe more than 1,000 watches per year?) that there is little chance to become "part of the process". That doesn't make either better or worse, but rather asking what is the value of having a personal relationship directly with watchmaker? I personally like the idea of being involved with the watch I am going to have made. Others may not believe so and that is why I asked the question. I really would like to hear others thoughts on this "personal" relationship.

For me, it is most important

that I receive excellent before sale and after sale service be it the watch comes from an independent or a large company. It is always an added bonus to be able to speak to the actual watchmaker of course as one feels a closer connection to the brand. But...
excellent point

not only do I want to have a personal connection with my next watch, I suppose I should consider whether the maker will be available to service the watch in the future. Case in point, I have always loved the Svend Andersen Original Secular Perpetual watch...
Quite true BUT
By: manilx : March 20th, 2018-23:52
This is exactly one of the main reasons I switched to an independent brand. The service of all the big ones just suck! Their main objective was the shareholder, selling more and more watches. They possibly cannot repair and service ina timely and qualativ...
