I would recommend getting a Shop Pay account set up ahead of time next time! I have a Canadian card but an American shipping address as I am a cdn stuck in the US, but had no issues due to a Shop Pay account with history on it.
Weirdly enough, it worked for me and for a close friend, but not for others.
