Thanks for these photos, FX!

 

What can I say about PSM and RWS that hasn't been said 100 times before, and far more eloquently than I ever could?  The work both of them do is so beautiful and distinctive.  They are two of my favorite independent makers working today.  I have longed for a PSM Shimoda for ages!  The Shimoda hits so many of my sweet spots: enamel dial, lovely blued hand, and unique display (plus a diamond on the single-hand!). 

Roger Smith's watches are also very, very lovely.  The Series 2 with its myriad engravings and guilloche, substantial blued hands, and perfectly frosted gold movement kill me!  Plus, I like the idea of buying a Manx watch -- because the Isle of Man is just a cool place.

i must admit i spent 10 minutes talking to 'this bloke' at the back of the room, noticed his PSM watch, commented on it, asked if it was his and the reply was 'err yeah, i'm Peter, i made it', luckily there was a very big hole to swallow me up i didnt get... 

Graham, I agree both British Watchmakers are down to earth.

My comment is based on my personal encounter with them a few years ago. Hopefully, they haven't changed. I believe not all independent watchmakers are humble, expecially after they have been successful and gained "recognition" . Regards Ling

They are both delightful people, and my wife Lorrie and I are honored to be considered as their friends. They went out of their way to host us on our recent visit to Switzerland, took us an hour's drive away for fondue, etc., etc. -- truly gracious people...

I ordered (or tried to order) watches from these guys: van der Klaauw, Voutilainen, Peter, Smith, Calabrese, and Pita and they are all very very humble and approach-able. The only person that is eccentric is Mr. Kiu Tai Yu, not that he is bad, just eccent...
