The problem for me is that nearly everyone new
is doing some variation of the same classic round watch with a very good finished caliber. The last one I heard Aigaki watches, they are beautiful and I know one needs crowd pleasers for their first watches to play it safe but… I mean look at this Rexhep Rexhepi AK06

I think we need more creativity like this, however when I first saw these pieces I must admit they did not attract me immediately so I understand why everybody wants to be a little Philippe Dufour. Don’t get me wrong I like an exquisitely finished classic watch like anyone else here, it’s just an observation that recently I started to feel like the new releases are in need of a bit of originality.

Anyone exciting as of late? It feels like a lot of new independents came around ~2020/2021 with the COVID bump but not too many new players since.

Does this mean the market is saturated for new kids on the block selling their first watch project out of school as a limited, maybe, souscription buy now pay now receive never watches? 😂
