When I first saw HM2 in NYC, My immediate association is...
This! An Airplane's instrument panel.
The HM2, with it's elongated rectangular shape, has a very mechanical and instrument-like look. Any subset of the 2 adjacent instruments from the panel would resemble HM2, IMHO.
