Cant agree with you more.I have an IWC portugese perpetual with North/South hemisphere month phase indication black face in rose gold.Absolutely undeniable in terms of useage,their are great design of the Former Technical Director of IWC which you mentioned.I am not sure the older version Da vinci you mentioned was his design or not.But based on my comparison between three perpetual watches i am having which is the IWC portugese,Patek Annual calender and ultrathin JLC Master perpetual.In terms of daily useage and user friendly,i vote unanimously for the IWC.When the date adjustment done,everything synchronize by itself,its so wonderfull compare to some watches you need to push the pusher one by one and who is willing to go and check the moon phase calender everytime.
Go ahead get hold of the latest IWC perpetual,you will not regret.
