Hi fellow purists
I was just looking at 2nd hand watches on the web for fun. I stumbled on the old IWC Da Vinci - I find it amazing that you can get these watches in steel from around10 k usd. It has a perpetual calendar and a chronograph, and a relatively compact watch for such a complication with a case of 39 mm. It seems extremely cheap these days conidering the level of complication.
I never liked the design of this watch, but today I stopped and looked twice. (perhaps because IWC have made an IMO awfull re-design)
I think the design of the Da Vinci is perhaps a bit out of fasion these days (it seems very 80-ies with its neo-classical geomtry) - but IMO not a bad design, since it is "clean" and with some refined details. Could this watch get a revival/ classic staus as a 2nd hand piece?
Does anyone have comments regarding this watch?
I thought the Kurt Klaus calendar was regarded a fine specimin of perpetual calendars?
How do you regard this watch overall? The design? quality of movement e.t.c.?
I will be interested in hearing your opinions on these various matters.
kind regards
christian
