IWC

It was a close call - but I wanted to swap it out for this one to compare and contrast. I know a lot of people have complained about the price of the Ingenieur relative to other IWC watches - but I see it a a steal if you’re looking for a modern day homag...  

My only experience with modern Ingenieurs is the earlier 322701 tuna can, and the somewhat more recent 323906. Both since sold. But it seems IWC has raised their game in the current releases. I don't think the price is that crazy. Never a bad time to put ... 

I also owned a 3239 back when they were new and it was a very nice watch at a much lower price than the new Ingenieur... but the new one is CLEARLY made and finished to a higher standard. I didn't appreciate it until I handled one.

It’s a bit more industrial than the RO and Patek but totally a quality product. I agree that it’s fairly priced and a great update to the 1970’s design.

I wasn’t expecting to like this anywhere near as much as I do. I was rounding out the 1970’s Genta trio - but this really holds its own with the other two.

I’ve just reset it now and will check over the next 24 hours.

Around 6 hours on the wrist and 18 on a stand - crown right at about 45 degrees. I’m fine with this. Pretty much anything I have is more accurate than the cal 2121 movement in my RO 🤣

The calibre 2121 is the same specs as the original 50 year old movement. Notoriously unreliable movements 🤣

My RO has to go for service every 5 years as the rotor starts to stick at this point. The new movement also has a quick advance feature for the date to avoid the “10 to 2” dance required to adjust the date on the older model.

The RO dial comes alive in the bright daylight. I must be honest - it’s a bit subdued in the shade/indoors. The bracelet is a stunner in either environment!

I know the AP dial is extremely detailed and well done but still... If you can post a macro of the IWC...?

I particularly like the black dial - which causes the baton indices to really pop!

Didn’t notice any noticeable gain/loss over 5 days of wear. I’ll let you know.

From a movement perspective, the INGENIEUR's cost is high. Compared to other integrated bracelet watches like the Chopard Alpine Eagle and the Bulgari Octo Finissimo, which both cost roughly in the same range and have higher grade movements. So from a cer... 

It's just alright. Nothing special. If anything the claps is very cheap. That's the part that annoys me. Looking forward to hearing your review after the AP. ...  

I purchased the Ingenieur to round out the Genta ‘70’s trio. I already had a Jumbo and Nautilus so in this regard it was a purchase for the collection rather than something I would have pursued in its own right. As the photos below indicate, the Jumbo and...  

I think it's a solid watch for daily wear but I don't think it competes even remotely on the same level as the PP AP or even a Piage Polo S. I wound up selling my Rolex for this model at a great deal that made sense to me but no way would I personally pay...
