IWC

Thanks.

I purchased the Ingenieur to round out the Genta ‘70’s trio. I already had a Jumbo and Nautilus so in this regard it was a purchase for the collection rather than something I would have pursued in its own right.
As the photos below indicate, the Jumbo and Nautilus are haute horlogerie - which cannot be ascribed to the industrial Ingenieur. I would class the Nautilus as the pretty one, the Ingenieur as the industrial one and the Jumbo somewhere in the middle (although it’s about as water resistant as tissue paper!).
Despite purchasing the Ingenieur only “for the collection” I really do like it - particularly the black dial - again the choice for the collection rather than on its merits. I want expecting to like it as much as I do - which only adds to the appeal.
I find the clasp simple and in keeping with the design and find the double triggers of the butterfly deployant less obtrusive than the Jumbo’s triggers. The Nautilus clasp (not pictured) wins out here with the friction ball bearing design and safety lock prevailing. I prefer this to the trigger deployant on the 5811 as I like the slimmer, less obtrusive look.
I would characterize the Ingenieur as “The Little Engine that Could” in relation to its more illustrious siblings and will wear it often - ironically, probably more than the other two.
