You rightly said that the Destriero (meaning "battle horse") is a design belonging to the past, but in spite of that a true classic. Since you mentioned Günter Blümlein and Kurt Klaus being part of the legend, I was, however, astonished to miss a name that especially here at the PuristS is enjoying much respect: Richard Habring. He was a member of the young team around Kurt Klaus, entrusted with the design of the Destriero. But afar from that, he contributed also two of the important features of the watch: the unique split-second mechanism with the "gripping tweezers" and located on the bottom of the movement, so it can be observed through the displayback, and the titanium-caged flying tourbillon, based in a ball-bearing. Richard was the first to use titanium to reduce the mass of the tourbillon cage.
