With a patent filed in 1992. Habring left IWC in the early 2000's while the patent expired in 2012. If you ask me, Richard deserves all the credit for this movement.

I recall this era of IWC Pilot chronos prompted the extended date window trend. It was polarizing at the time, but has grown on me. I appreciate how it prevents the date from being obscured by the minutes hand.
