I'm really not sure as looking at other chronographs they are also in a similar placement.
Yet on this one and the Minerva you posted too something just feels off maybe it's their size and the smaller hour markers that are throwing me or it could just must be me.

Great looking vintage LeCoultre Chronograph.
Whilst the dial colour is really nice I am finding the sub dial placements more than a little strange and it's making me feel slightly uncomfortable about them. Marc
