Really, what an incredible homage to the original. JLC gets a ton of credit for resisting the urge to go overboard with "improvements" here. That said, I'll have to sit this one out, since there are a couple of other pieces ahead of the DSA in the queue.

Is the alarm based on the minute hand position, which is useful for diving, or based on the hour hand position?

Not really scratch resistant.
Same material than on the Rolex Subs. It is not possible to take the scratches off, even minor. But youy can always have your insert changed for a new one, by JLC You made a confusion with ceramic, because at the beginning, ithe idea was to use a bakelite...
