Nico, your post makes this May so much fun ahead...

... i have read few times on your post before penning down my response here.

i would say you are not only a lawyer by training, but you are also fantastic writer that can make such so-called simple watch boxes in a fun and enjoyable post.

i think it is because you are lawyer professional, you can look into small and simple thing that people would usually and easily ignore.

regarding your questions, i remember when i bought my first relatively serious watch, it came with a huge box. that time i love the box and keep it safe as it represented the significant milestone for my watch journey. but after a while when getting more watches along with more such huge boxes, i just started it so annoying and in fact in reaching a stage that i don't know where to find space for them, LOL.

from your post, it seems the watch boxes had started to upsize since 70s. if my observation is correct, that was the time the watches were become funky and bulky too. for most watches, only the case size became bulky, not the hands, hour indices were also become larger and tended towards to be squared like as well as having 3D look.

i guess there must be something significant happening during that era.

since there is little tendency of resizing the watch size back to a more reasonable size, maybe it could also make watch boxes into a smaller size too so that it can be matched accordingly?!

well done and look forward to your another two posts for this May. thanks, Nico.
