is the original sound then also tuned for improved propagation under water? None of my Memovoxe's ring like the DSA, and some are from the same period.
I am sure that I read some JMC publications talking about this difference between the waves in the air and under water.
Could it be that I am that wrong ?
Is the sound comming out from the two splits at 12 and 6 under the bezel?
Or could it be that my DSA has a problem? It actualy only vibrates and emits a very low buzzing sound.

Easy. THe sound of the TT DSA Alarm was a deliberate choice.
The Cal 956 housed in the TT DSA is the same than the one you will find in the TT Polaris and the 2010 Master Memovox. The only difference being the date ( which has been removed in the TT DSA ) and the alarm sound. Why? Easy. On the TT DSA, the JLC team ...

No, this theory is just a theory.
What you read is that the 16 holes in the Polaris case back were made to insure a better propagatiion of the sound, underwater. Which still has to be scientifically demonstrated. But this has nothing to see with the Deep Sea Alarm, Tribute or not. The Tri...
