Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts and pictures with us. JLC has really done the originals justice, and my only regret is that I lack sufficient funds to purchase the DSA American as well as the three other pieces that have alrea...
this one simply is irresistible. American, or European, hmmmm. Can't wait to see it in person next week. Thanks for the spectacular post, Cheers Guille
and its 8AM and I have a call into Seth at BHB... I missed the Polaris and I ain't about to miss this... man...just not sure which one..the US or European...the latter seems to be more Polaris like... ARGGHHHHH! great reporting..thank you..brings a smile ...
To not be madly in love with any watch... I know, this is a weird philosophy, but what would be life without passion? You won't go wrong with any of them, ocwatching, so relax! Best, Nicolas.
SIHH 2011 looks like an interesting year for JLC. First of all, the 1931 Reverso looks interesting. Now this 1959 DSA looks very interesting too. Again, the big difficult question is, which one will be the one I would want? The US Dial version or the Euro...
That was the same problem with the TTP 65 and 68. But as saoid above, having this kind of dilemma is better than to not have it. A delicious torture. Best, Patrick. Nicolas.
... WOW...WOW... in addition to Revero 1931... this is really surprising me again... MJLC does not disappoint us this year. now... my shopping list will be Reverso 1931 and DSA! can't wait to see the flesh and try them on wrist and also place the order as...
it's so nice to get such a pleasant surprise like this...!!! There could have been a sound file but obviously we were talking about the reverso minute repeater to be revealed soon. It is a very faithful reproduction...even down to the faults in the origin...
Same movement, same sound. The only thing which can differ is that the case of the TT DSA is a bit smaller than the TTP. Will it have a consequence on the sound of the Alarm? We'll see, but I doubt it will be an important difference, maybe in the volume? ...
JLC did a great job on these Deep Sea Alarm watches.. I love the fact that it is almost exactly the same with the original version.. And I totally agree that some imperfections on the design/functionality give these two watch a special kind of charm... Th...
It was a less easy decision than trying to hide these imperfections, to solve them. It is part of the DNA of these watches, and it had to be kept this way, in my opinion. Thanks for your input, Sam. Best, Nicolas.
written with dep feeling and passion. These watches very clearly mean a great deal to you...and so they should. For me, the LeCoultre is the one i will buy as a brother to its original. Or maybe a son. Can't wait. Superb write-up. And congratulations to y...
Nicolas, Wonderful post!!! Thank you for preparing such sublime review of two superb re-editions from JLC. Needless to say, both are incredibly alluring! Another slam dunk for JLC! Gracias, hermano, Alex
JLC definitely gave us vintage nuts a great opportunity with this faithful re-edition! For sure this is a model to be inspected more closely! Hopefully I will get that chace sometime soon. Hope all is well. Best regards, Alex
Thank You Nicolas for this awesome detailed introduction. My JLC AD here in Italy has my reservation on his desk with the number "1". Have a nice day my friend Marco
Before seeing the watches in metal next Monday, I will say nothing definite. But I would summarize my feelings as follows: Positive things are the history of the watch, the design, size and the similarity with the original watch. Negative is that accordin...
Several points: 1/ You say you won't dive with it. It is sure that I will rather consider swimming with it than diving with it at some serious dephts. BUT... With the Vintage, you have to avoid water, even in a glass. I lived it last summer, I was at the ...
I agree with many of your comments Nico and have just one comment and one question: It is clear that the new watch is much better for diving than any vintage. But do you have any idea why is the depth rating just 100 meters? I agree with the virtues of th...
JLC could give a more important depht rating, but it would have required a sapphire ( no way on this piece ), or a different plexy, not shaped in the same way, less nicely integrated to the bezel. The original one was WR to 155 meters. As for the comparat...
Like I said earlier; I don't know yet. It will be great to see the watch in metal on Monday and perhaps I will order both - I don't really know. Let's hope there are also some other new and exciting things and see you soon. Safe trip! Best, Kari
You know what i mean Nicolas .... . Great post, very informative again for a novice like me. To be seen in the flesh .. in a not to distant future ... . filip
An obviously best response ... The two watches look stunning and everytime i prefer one above the other, soon the other gets my attention and vice versa ... . Both executions are great-looking overall ... if only i had some fundings ... .... . filip
There are some watches that leave an indelible trace on our collective memory because they have written a page in history. The Memovox Deep Sea, the first diver's watch ever made by the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre, undoubtedly belongs to the select circl...
Thanks for your care and attention with this post. It hit all notes with me and I rushed to contact the BH Boutique. This is such a tribute to the originals.
nice tribute, to a very desirable vintage... (sopt on review: everything is there) Price is high, but market will tell. looking forward to see or bring one one underwater
watches with thick plexi like this are a dream to wear. there is an incredible appeal to the reflection that the plexi gives. in our days of sapphire everywhere, it is very pleasant to see that there is still room for high end watches with plexi.
Nicholas, Thank you so much for the post it was an absolute pleasure to read, the way you share your passion for these watches is a joy. Made my day! Best my friend Christian
there must have been soo much excitement at the Boutique that evening... I am killing myself trying to decided between the two...ARGH..and I can only get one...(snif)
Not too many people, just friends. I just regret that our POY.FR wasn't there with us, as his place was among us... Thanks for the pictures, Thom. Best, Nicolas. This message has been edited by amanico on 2011-01-13 23:25:19
First, Thanks my friend for this great moment with you ! As we explain Nicolas, the step around DSA is identical to the previous project, Polaris. No concession on reissue, a product very close to the original watch. I prefer the Europe version, wiser and...
Of course, this type of release is very much in my zone of interest -- modern "vintage" design, and a dive watch to boot!! How can I not embrace these two models as a good thing? The lingering question is: which version is prettier? Thank you for bringing...
One is perhaps visually more powerful than the other - but both are very strong in my opinion. I love them both, and it will take some time for me to appoint a favourite, I think Thanks for the revelation! Nikolaj
happy for people who were at the creation of this piece, happy for the collectors who have a dramwatch recreated, happy for JLC which has done a great job on this Deepsea recreation, happy for all the customers who will have one of the most beautiful spor...
- very well put, Francois ! - very well done, Nicolas !! 'Chapeau' to Nicolas' post, to all on this project and to JLC ! Cannot wait .. ( the US version for me, for sure, well then this other one .. - pain & pleasure revisited..) Best, HS PS: Allow a naiv...
