721 gets my vote!
I almost sold it via a bundle deal. The deal didn’t push through and the watch is still with me. Glad I didn’t sell it. The watch will remind me of my first Panerai 287, how I got to know our community, and how it eventually became a sore point with I thought was a good friend.

I don't like the 721 for the same reason others like it. Don't like the anonymous dial and what it represents.
I like them both.
But I think I'm with you, and I would choose the 720 too. The 721 feels kind of empty with such a big dial. I guess it''s just a matter of taste, both look great. Vte

No contest IMHO. The 721 is homage to the Type D ref. 3646 while the 720 is supposed to be a Type C homage. However, they didn’t try to emulate the red-patina’d lume from the original Type C’s nor the darkened engraved writing. A fail unfortunately, IMHO ...

Lettering is nice. But it’s what I can enjoy on almost any of my Pam’s.
This big dial of a 721 with nothing on it it’s something unique. To me it’s not even unique it’s just f... nice to look at. But understandable if Die hard letteristi prefer the 720. both nice watches. In this case i might actually go for the 232.
