In principle I might agree with you....
in..real..facts, if you have built a relationship over YEARS and you have purchased a "truck load" of Panerais, you expect to have a privileged position, when it comes to bookings. I have some 30 Panerais and started to buy Panerai when other clients would have...ducked...if someone had thrown one at them for...FREE! I expect to be given a priority. Right or wrong, this is how the world...spins 
As for the flippers, I have spoken against the sales policy to everyone in Panerai (except Mr Bonati). The moment they made some "coveted" models available to..everyone..(PAM390 or PAM411 for example) the regular people, the ones that would enjoy it and finally could buy one, tried to flip it BEFORE getting out of the boutique

maybe the guys in the Boutique were trying to say that, since all the Bronzos are REALLY coveted by collectors and regular and frequent Panerai buyers, in order to have a chance to be "considered", you have to...build up...your client's profile and turnov...

That loyalty should be appreciated but I don't see how that goes against a manufacture producing more of their popular items to please more collectors unless it is their express intent to not do so for the purpose of creating stronger demand for those pie...

the 671 is very coveted Limited Edition...
the 690 is a regular production model that can be bought by...everybody and their brothers. Better keep the Platinum or Black card at the ready, in a few months, if you want to buy a 671
