I like the clean dial and the effort to create something out-of-the-box. It would be a hit to me, if it were thinner, because without the lume, it branches from it's utilitarian purpose. If it were 42mm, and thinner, it will be so much better. This watch ... 

A Panerai's DNA is large indeed. I am still haunted by the SLC - it is so large, but I really like the DNA. I saw it once at the AD, and ever since that day, I've never been the same. The Saint is right, this 790/1 does remind me of some of the Rolex-OP c...

I think it is an original, as the weight and quality of the steel is different from the Tudor BB. It reminded me of the steel of my old Kermit. Other tell tale signs: 1) correct serial number on rehaut and warranty (from the AD in New Zealand) 2) Proper b... 

The Bettarini case employed the crown guard as its link to vintage. There are only a hand-full of modern creations that are near vintage clones. Other than that, most Panerai are just variations on a theme. Some are desirable and some not so. But at least... 

Additionally, these are really nice Panerai. I like the "deco" dials and the break from the same old hands. The hands remind me of those found on a pocket watch. -John

Without trying too hard, here below is a picture of a Rolex Bubble back 3131 there are tons of others Rolex Bubble Back & & Rolex 3139 even with Roman or Arabic numerals resembling very closely Rolex Bubble back 3131 Rolex Ref : 3139 ...  

Especially the 790. Would it be my only Panerai, if I were a Panerai guy? Hmmm. Not sure, either way. But in there with one or two other models? Absolutely. And who knows - maybe it has more lasting personality, more interest than some of the usual suspec... 

... but I don't think they work well together. The case is big, thick, and rugged, while the dial printing is small, refined, and elegant. The delicacy of the dials is incongruous with the hefty case, to my eye. When I first saw these watches, I thought, ... 

... but was a little put off by the water resistance and shrinking of the large classic case designed for legibility in water. If Due is the only option, yes, I could see the dials working. But those dials are so refined and elegant, almost delicate, that... 

No offense my friend but they don’t look like a panerai at all. It’s like they were running out of ideas so let’s create something new. The dial definitely looks like Art Deco but not for me. Just my 2 cents

Actually both 00790 & 00791 are said to have been inspired by one of the 2 pendulum clocks of the boutique Piazza San Giovanni in Firenze It is mentioned who was the maker... In that boutique they were severals brands of clocks : Vacheron Constantin, ...

although my...preference...would be for the 791. The ivory dial is just quaint for me. I remember reading that it comes from a traveling alarm clock, but for the life of me, I can't find the picture
