I don't understand what's the wait for PP strap wait. It's not as if the outsourced company is churning out super high quality handmade item either. I had to bite because I stupidly threw away the white gold spring bars and PP won't let you buy a new set without buying a strap.

Almost all YouTube but paid CHF300 for an online tutorial
So to answer your question, yes I learnt it by myself via trial and error method. YouTube can get you to OEM quality level but paid tutorial is for the tip and tricks to make things look nicer.

Frustrations along the way for sure but leather work/hobby is relatively easy to improve quickly because the trial and error process has low cost of error.
