The Panerai watches that are true to their roots are very desirable but they made numerous mistakes with pricing and marketing. I bought a 372 when it first came out, not long after I bought
it they lowered the price of the watch (just one example)! It was like they had cracked the Rolex-PP-AP value code and then began to make one mistake after another. Oddly the only one I've ever owned that continued
to hold value really well did not have an in-house movement. It was a pam 176 with a very nicely dolled up ETA-Unitas. Unfortunately I sold it to help pay for my 372 (!) which I eventually let go of due to it's size.
