Platinum is a big no no to me - but then again, the winner of this watch might not take it diving. As a scuba diver myself, I might actually want to strap this on my wrist in lieu of a dive computer, but if it were in platinum, I think that's just an unnecessary risk. I wouldn't want to insult the maker by scratching it carelessly on a dive.

Platinum for a piece unique for auction but not really for a regular mass production model. It looks slim. Like the dial, would have preferred wire lugs.

The platinum, I'm sure, has been chosen to increase the..intrinsical..value of the model, much like the 21. Even in an auction, it would be difficult to fork out "the big bucks" for a S/S model I.M.O. I also see a replica produced in more realistic E.U. n...
OK, this one is pretty badass. Good for whoever wins it.
But this is Panerai, so next year we will see a regular piece in steel, then a blue dial, then a black case, then a bronze, etc. ;-)

But he won't even wear it. One off watches do not get worn.

This watch will almost never be worn and only come out on special occasions. And will never be worn in the water. It will never see its natural habitat!
