Omega

Hi all, I have a vintage omega watch ( cal 565), case number : 14762 61 SC I search at the wepsite of vintage omega, but i don't find out any information about my case number. So, is my watch fake? I need your help! Thanks a lot. Cevico...  

There are many case numbers missing from the Omega Vintage database. Don't expect the database to be complete. It is a work in progress. The 14762 case number corresponds to a Seamaster made circa 1960 that was powered by a cal 565 or 562, I believe. Greg

the 61 on the end indicates the year the case was made and assembled. when dating an omega it is often better to go by this date than by the movement number as they can be out of synch by as much as 2-3 years. hope that completes everything you need to kn...

Hi Graham, Didin't know that about the case numbers. But then, I've often come arround cases marked "-7" or "-11" (usually from the 1950s). How's that to be read? And speaking of case numbers, always have been curious to know what that "SC" at the end mea... 

Hi Peitron, it is quite easy:  "SC" stands for "seconde centrale" which means center second - it is a case for a center second movement. Sometimes there are casebacks fitting for 2 different references - one for SC and one for sub second - you will f... 

to add to what Erich has said. the date ie -61 doesnt seem to have started until 1961. i could well be wrong but i dont recall seeing one any earlier than that. before that they had a case ref number with usually 4 or 5 figures and then -7 as the iteratio...
