Do you know why this one doesn't have the same subdial on the right side (I prefer yours)? So only a couple dozen were made and they also have different dials?

When the 3940 was introduced in 1986, some customers wanted to have a display case. At that time, Patek did not offer a choice with a 3940, so they came up with a new reference number, 3941, to apply to all and only those 3940‘s which had a display back. ...

Changes to the sundials occurred as the series evolved
The inclusion of the quadrant lines, as well as rotating the leap year numbers, were modifications made to the 3940 (and the 3941), after the first series. This didn’t last long with the 3941, because during the second series it was discontinued.

Both New York and Switzerland had opinions on what needed to be done. Nothing too serious, so we were able to take our time on the final work order. The watch now feels, looks, and works much better.
