Patek Philippe

+1000 times!

the trouble with you my friend, is that you know too much. smile too much horological culture!

I personally think it is sad to see a make like Patek Philippe entering this fashionable neo-vintage market, and entering it in that manner.
There are other makes doing it better, with better credibility and with better products.
I feel Patek lineage to this type of pilot watch is very thin to say the least. Not really what lies at the heart of Patek's heritage... Using an automatic movement in such a model is a historical nonsense, a contradiction in terms at best, an opportunistic chance to capitalise on the fashion of the moment and the ignorance of some at worst. The addition of a date to the automatic movement is "the cherry on the cake", the detail that makes the farce more complete. Had Patek made a new bespoke manual/ hand-wound movement without date, then yes, I would start taking notice... Not here.
Let's be consistent with ourselves, we have been critical of similar gimmicks with other brands. It is just as much, if not more disappointing to see the same pitfall in a Patek watch. When I see this I think of another Patek Philippe, the more than 50.000 watches per annum watch maker.
