Thanks so much, such a great, comprehensive view of the 5905P! The 5960 in steel is one of my favorite modern Patek's so its a hard comparison for me ;) The lack of power reserve does kill me, BUT you are right I think in your assumptions as to Patek's me...

Actually, I'm a guy who thinks that a power reserve is more useful with an automatic watch than with a handwind one. Because with the handwind one, you usually wind it every morning. Anyway, thanks for your comments! Fx

5960 is a Grand Complication: chronograph, annual calendar, power reserve and day-night indicator. The new version is a Complicated Watch because one complication has been removed. But why is 5960 "just" a Complicate Watch? It gave the people interested i... 

Because the "middle" of Patek is actually already very high and you need to meet the expectations of the collectors who can't have access to the highly complicated watches... Fx

There are already too many in the watches industry... and how many really know what is a customer or a dealer? Thierry Stern is not a MBA guy and he was trained at Patek in the workshops and in NY. And it is much better for the company to have this profil...

Has much less charm than the 5960. The 5960 as really something, as you wrote. Monocounter, first in house auto chrono movement, and an original and refined look at the same time. The 5905 cannot compete, imo. Best, Nicolas

On the surface, it seems to have all the elements I find appealing. But the one thing that bothers me is the font that they use for the subdial. To me, the 5905 is a modern chronograph, the overall dial layout, the use of the modern subdial to keep the ru...  

I didn't pay too many attention to the fonts and you raised a good point. Actually, I see these fonts differences as a way to create an additional aesthetic gap between the counter and the other data. But yes, it lacks consistency in a way. Fx

I also had it in my mind and clearly, there is no big differences when we observe the casebacks of several watches using the the similar movements, whatever they are complicated or not... I don't speak here about the micro-rotor movement obviosuly because...

Sorry to revive an older thread, however I wanted to thank you for your review which in many ways helped me move forward with my recent purchase. The 5960P was my first Patek and will always hold a place in my heart. The new reference, IMHO provides meani...  

People sometimes miss threads like this one and it is nice to bump them up from time to time, especially when the watch has been recently unveiled. The 5905 and its 42mm fit very well your wrist and this proves that Patek was well inspired to include some...
