I’d probably choose a 3940p or j and a 5070p or g if I could have two. I think the proportions of the 3940 were perfect and for the 5070, prefer a manual chrono to perpetual calendar chrono combo. The 5070 is an exceptional chrono and prefer the clean dial to 3970 also.
I have the 3940 and had the 5070g and regret selling it..

Yes, I also think it is perfect. So, I certainly understand the appeal of 5070P. MANY times I have thought 5070P and 5970P would make a spectacular pairing and have been tempted
to try to make that happen, but in the end I realized that I have a much stronger personal preference for 5970. So much so that I prefer a pair of 5970s, even though perhaps that might seem shortsighted.
As the forum moderator I’m fighting hard not to express a (non-Boccadasse, in-catalog) preference here, but….I’ll be following with LOTS of interest this very thought-provoking thread!😄🙏😉 Cheers.

To me the combo of the enamel dial (I prefer the white face, but wouldn't turn down the other), minute repeater, and the 38mm case is perfection. My personal grail watch.

It’s a perfect pcc perfect diameter to thickness ratio very legible and not cluttered g for versatility Most importantly it looks really awesome
Couldn’t agree more with all your points about the G, particularly your comment about versatility. With the G the strap options are endless.
Dress it up, dress it down. Blue, silver, green, black, brown ... anything goes. With the P, for me, the options are pretty limited. So I am a huge fan of the G.
