Well, if you are very familiar with the older models (as nicely illustrated by tic-toc's pics), then perhaps the subdial placement will gnaw away at you, and just remind you that there is a relatively small cal in the 5196 series.
However, why not think of it as a happy accident, that then the subdial does not impinge at all on the "6", giving (to my eye) a nicer aesthetic result? Does anyone else dislike when subdials cut off numerals, even applied ones, as for example (gasp!) in the hallowed 5070?
